And That's a Wrap!
« on: April 04, 2013, 01:47:13 pm »
:FMLN:

For the fifteenth time we have successfully completed the regular season, and of the recent ones I have to say that this was a particularly smooth one.  We had very few replacements and even fewer problems.  We experienced some new maps, and modified some old ones.  All in all, I think that it was a very successful season that will lead to some great new innovation in the future.  That being said, as much as we’d like to include all of our players in the playoffs we can’t do so.  Wait, that’s a lie.  We basically did that one season and the playoffs sucked.  For all you losers that didn’t make it, better luck next time!

And now,

The Semi-Final Cast

:Mexico: :ra: Persuade
:USA: :ud: Audigy
:Finland: :ne: J33.
:Germany: :hu: Humanstar

FML|PersuadeLucky is our newest admin.  Not only is he not deserving to be in this Semi-Final, he didn’t deserve to be in this season.  Let’s review some facts.

1) It took him 3 tries to get into this season when all others in it got 2 or less.
2) He needed a combination of three things to happen to make the finals.  Vain get 5 points, LW not win, and SS not to win.  He accomplished this.  Vain got 5 points for not showing to his game, and then got a second chance to play the game and still only got a last place and 5 points.
3) He reminds me of Renaud.

So, you all know what this means.  He’s pretty much destined to win this season.  He’s always sucked terribly in the semis (okay he did have that one good one where he got 3v1 to death), so he’s somehow going to survive this and then win the championship.  You heard it here first folks.

Audigy

An older player who is new to this era.  Known best for his necrowagons, he actually pulled off a win with Night Elf.  Overall, he’s somewhat of an enigma.  How hard is it to prepare for a strategy you know is coming?  Well, those that Audigy has beaten down on his road to the semi-finals will claim it’s pretty hard.  With a combination of brilliant timing and good understand Audigy has made his well known strategy work for him this far.  The question is, how well will it work against a group of the league’s best players all in one game?  We’ll have to wait and see.

J33

A fresh face to the league, but not an unknown, J33 has done well for himself in one of, if not the, first FML season he’s played in.  He’s managed to make it to the semi-finals with his laid back and non-threatening style of Night Elf play.  Somewhat reminiscent of Renaud, he’s probably one of the most macro-oriented players in the league.  Because he isn’t on the same page as Humanstar and Persuade micro wise it’s likely that he’ll be viewed as a heavy underdog.  That being said, I’m pretty positive that that’s exactly what those who have lost to him thought.

Humanstar

The top rated player in this game, and somoene who actually should have qualified directly for the Season 15 Finals.  A lock in points with :USA: :ne: DFM, he had the more valuable wins by our metric.  DFM was unhappy with the way we decided this though and started complaining about it, and Humi graciously said he would play the semi-finals.  Drama avoided, and our 4th semi finalist was picked.

Humanstar managed to grab 2 wins on the season giving himself a nice 50% win rate.  He’s no stranger to the semi-finals though, and is the only one of our semi-finalists that has made the finals.  In fact, he’s made them multiple times.  This time he’ll be focused on making the finals and then getting himself a win in them.  Will abusing human heroes and tanks be enough to do it for him?  Face necrowagons and air would create an interesting dichotomy in the game, and force him to prioritize and make some sacrifices.  While he’s probably the favorite to win this match, it’s a long way from a lock.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned.  The semi-finals game is Sunday April 7th at 14:30 EDT!

I just want to go onto the record as say you're wrong. Its only the fourteenth time. After Season 9 flopped and the league died for a year and a half, I decided that Season 10 sounded way cooler then Season 9 so it was skipped. :D

Damn it Worpex, stop fucking up my articles.  15 sounds way cooler than 14, therefor it's 15 successful ones!

Well it used to be, but someone moved it from the Season 9 spot on the Hall of Fame!
