[Poll] Future Winter Tournament

So Persuade has been leading up to this for awhile with a bunch of different experiments. The admin team is a bit split on what we want to do for our next tournament once S17 starts to wind down a bit (Very, very soon). So! We want your ideas!!! The result of this poll will give the admin team an idea of what everyone wants to see for a tournament.

dont do team ffa, played it a lot. it just sucks

we play solo coz we dont want to depend on others, team ffa is smth else. not close to ffa at all

While my game was fun, I actually don't think it would make a very good "tournament" style game.

I think anon ffa would be the best choice.


As for team ffa, we can try a game or two this weekend, we've only done one game in the past on friends and it was a great game. (team lesbian duet won)

• Anyone who watched the anonymous FFA should realize it was pointless.  Its biased against players with distinct playstyles, and just helps generic players.  In theory it should be balanced, but its actually imbalanced.
• Pick opponents heroes - fun, but not competitive.

Maga was smart enough to go unnoticed in the anon ffa, If you play smart and not predictable it helps your odds.  We only did on test game you know, we can do more.

The opponent ffa thing is not competitive at all, that said I will be doing 4 ways in the future just to test it more.

Race wars is an idea we're throwing around, it's something like a normal season.  16 players, 4 players of each race, play swiss style where each round is one player of each race.  Final is the top ranked played of each race.  Simple enough

Maga also died horribly as his off race.  Theres like 3.5 people who can play undead competitively (Maga, Duck, and ill count you and seksi at .75 people.)  Anyway how will you people do anonymous unless the admins arent allowed to play?!

In most actual tournaments we have some admins don't play so we can organize it, so that wouldn't be new.

Also I think you meant 5.5 ud players since I play it well enough for 2 people.  I just haven't wanted to show everyone up with how easy mode ud is.

I have 3 taverns on the map, with all 24 heroes available.   Essentially in a 4 player game your 3 opponents pick your 3 heroes.  You can get them in any order, you can go 2, or you can go 1, but you are restricted to those 3 heroes.

It's actually interesting that in the 6 way we did, no hero was picked twice, which is extremely odd.


The combos were (I believe..)


Persuade - Bloodmage/ potm/ Crypt lord
Meeds - Alch/Warden/lich
Maga - Firelord/Pally/Pitlord (hehe)
jey - Blademaster / SH / Dreadlord
Steppin - DH/Naga/Tinker
Worpex - kotg / deathknight/ farseer




If people are smart in game they will eventually come to the conclusion that they can essentially give someone good heroes for the sole purpose of teaming them, or perhaps giving a good hero in hopes that person gives you a good hero, etc.

The only tricky part is if a player is random, they won't know race, which is why I'm considering allowing a time frame to choose the heroes, of 1445 in game (tavern hero available) so they have a chance to scout the races and determine what people need.

If there are 2 humans, the non humans might decide to give each other a panda just so they aren't helpless, etc.
