wtf?! i've never thought of the word maternity leave before! in danish it's called "barsel" which origins from the word "barn" (child) - in all honesty, the perspective in english is fucked up, it has (almost:p) nothing to with the mother or father, it's all for the child!!

In Germany it is the same, as Kruppe can confirm.
