FML Season 22 Official Start Date And New Format

Hello again everyone! It is time to announce the new Season 22 which will kick off next Monday, 15 February as the fun Sympo league ends and declares its champion.

Until this happens though, we invite you to read through the new format of the league. Contrary to the previous season, we will stick mostly to the classic 4-ways. However, there will be some extras in those matches. Please check the description of the format below:

36 registered players + the 3 late entries (Snarp, Gradient and F10EX) reserved for any dropouts (which is highly likely based on our past experience so please stay around!)

6 rounds in total of a season + Semis + Losers bracket semis + Grand Final

Yes, there will be again a chance until the end to reach the final! Wohooo

Initial round 4way: Pick your opponents round

Players are divided into 4 pools:
1st pool: the 6 previous FML finalists + top 3 ranked players from the official FML stats history here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7vp1pAbiQTdd2p1TGtvU1B0dzQ/edit?pref=2&pli=1
2nd pool: next 9 ranked players
3rd pool: next 9 ranked players
4th pool: remaining last ranked players + newcomers

1st pool chooses one players from each of the other 3 pools to kick off their first round games. We will use the ordinary scoring of FML - 25 pts for the 1st place, 10 pts for 2nd and 3rd, and 5 pts for the 4th place.

Winners from the 1st round go to 1st pool, losers get into 2nd/3rd/4th pool respectively.


Second round 4way:
Same procedure as first round. There will be small, action-packed maps in this round...


Third round 4-way + random heroes:
Same procedure as last rounds but on random heroes maps. Worst 12 players on the ranking get eliminated to the lower brackets.

Fourth round 4way Winners (6 games) + timer:
Pools are now determined by current scoring. Top 6 = 1st pool etc. If timer runs out, points are based on the scores, except in obvious cases (e.g. someone has no chance of winning but delays the game by hiding trees).

Fifth round 4-way Winners (6 games) + objectives (different bonus points awarded for various completed objectives)
1st pool last round winners, 2/3/4th pools determined by place.

Sixth round 4-way winners (6 games) +  malus points (different actions that will take a point away if done during the game)
Last 12 scoring players after the end of the round get thrown to losers bracket. Others advance to semis

Winners Semis:
3 games 4 way determine 3 finalists

Losers bracket 24 players:

4 games 6 ways (or if players drop, scaled to 4 ways) to determine 4 winners that play a losers semi to determine the last finalist

Grand Final, 4 way on a classic map with no extra rules!

Notes:
- You cannot pick the same players in a row as a first pool player consecutively
- Decision which opponents does the 1st pool players pick must be done within 24 hours after announcement of the round
- Others small tweaks may apply until the season kicks off with its first games.

Will say that, the FML Stats History page hasn't been updated since S17... probably should update that before its used. S17 was 5 seasons ago and like... 3 years ago. lol

I like the 4way games and the semi format - but the random hero round is ridiculous, its based on complete luck. Someone can get firelord firelord naga facing pally tc dh etc

also...stats...very weird way to rank players. ive played way more than 9 ffa games. should have many more points

also big question "opponents must be chosen within 24 hrs of round announcement" or else what? if 1st rank doesnt choose then what happens...

I dont check FML website every day so its very likely to miss 24 hrs announcement

If you don't pick them within 24 hours they get randomly assigned
Personally I'll wait the 24 hours because I want my opponents to be random :)

The stats were the fairest possible way to determine the last 3 players and it is only valid in the first round. After that, it is whoever has won their game so it wouldn't matter anymore. Worp, this was a subtle hint to update the ranking although the top 3 from it are clear (Seksi, Wreck and me as Renaud is part of the 6 finalists group).

We will announce the new rounds always on the same Monday, a day after the round has been completed, so that those who do want to pick their opponents, would know when to log in and do so. But as Renaud said, if you do not want to/ you are unable to pick them, they will be randomly assigned from the remaining players in the pools.

Random heroes is fun and in ffa you can always team someone with imba heroes. I don't see a problem with that. :)

It´s actually pretty straight forward and it has a creative sequence, I really like it and with the variety of the games (rdm heroes, maps, timer, bonus/malus points) it should be intersting how the games go and who gets to the top. Well done on the dessign of this league admins (or admin maga lol :P).
