Hotkeys on hero inventory
« on: October 20, 2011, 09:29:04 am »
Anyone found a way to customize them?
Watching some of the top players abuse staffs: are you guys seriously that fast in using them without some sort of special hotkey?

good question, i was wondering about that too,
if i wanna staff i always have to go with my mouse to the inventory, click on the staff and then click on the unit/hero... i could use a hotkey too

(Personally i use the mouse)
but using warkeys, you can create a script that will remap them.  So it wont change the hotkey, but instead it will press "numpad X" when you press the key you choose. (If i understood correctly)

http://warkeys.sourceforge.net/

Or you can try using the numpad... but imo it's too far from the other keys, and there is no way i'm letting my mouse go :P

(or you can get a mouse that has some custom button, and set those button to the numpad... thats cool/imba)

I just tested it, works fine, but it makes a little "ding" when you press enter (probably the script being enabled/disabled so that you don't screw your chatting"

I got the script running in my tray but when I press alt-1 (my top left inventory slot) nothing happens. Numpad 7 still works though. Is there something I need to do to initiate the script while in game?

yes, you need to enable the script when you're playing - you can customize the key you enable/disable with in warkeys - which you might want to seeing as enter is the default key. i used to have tab(numpad 7), q(numpad 8), CAPS(numpad 4), Shift(numpad 1). If i needed more than those i was screwed.

but you can easily make it work if you just read the descriptions that comes up.

I use this. I have my top left inventory spot mapped to middle mouse click (usually my TP) and my top right mapped to another random mouse button. I usually forget to use that one though and my new mouse is rather hard to middle click with so I haven't been use that one so much anymore either. haha.

Yeah don't forget that you use the touchpad mouse scroller, too.
