Title: FFA Symposium inhouse league
Post by: Ponty on December 14, 2015, 11:26:09 am
Hi  :icon_biggrin:

Fml season 21 just ended

It's time for the FFA Symposium League to make its appearance, no pause for the ffa scene !

I resumed pretty much everything about the league in this google.doc, it's pretty simple (thx dv for your idea)
The league will pretty much last until a new FML season starts !

https://docs.google.com/document/d/13zepmISJpA8DmM-8hnNZWCxMhddlAsObAyImNfmgTPk/edit

We will start to count the points this week end. You guys can propose some bonus/malus points ideas to make the league funnier.

I also need trustful people to help me edit the scoreboard.

Nice idea, similar to "FML ladder" in 2012/2013.  A couple points:

You should have to state at the start of the game if its an official FFA Symposium Ladder game.  As simple as "FFA Ladder" at the beginning of the game.

The point system you have looks fine, but another idea is as followed:  You can +1 point for each other player in the game.  4-ways = 3 points, 6-ways = 5 points, 8-ways = 7 points etc.  This way, players are encouraged to play bigger and more epic FFAs (and can come back in a season by winning a huge FFA).  What do you think about this?

For some bonus points ideas:

+1 point for 10/10/10 heroes
+1 point for Highest Score (in a loss)

I answered you in twitch tchat, i prefer the current system point because it makes people play more, i don't like the idea of climbing lots of places just by winning 1 12-way :)

the 10/10/10 heroes bonus point sounds good
I disagree with the other one though, only the winner should be rewarded

Makes sense.  Current point system sounds good.

The idea behind top score getting 1 point (in a loss), rewards players for playing well but (usually getting teamed out in a leading position).  It encourages being active and fighting a lot.  The highest score player will often be the most active one.  Consider that one!

Actually you are right if it's only 1 point, why not

The idea sounds like our old FML FFA Ladder 2012/2013 . I really underestimated the work behind it. since i had to evaluate each replay manually and post results/add points.

The bonus targets will make it a bit hard to distribute the points.

For example: how you want to prove each players goldcount during the whole game? Will be hard to see who was below 6k and who was not.

First: every replay automatically being saved at ffarena site
Second: if someone got bonus point, he just should say about it, we wont check trustfull ppl
Its fun league anyway, more like its thing to make inhouse games more interesting

league type is really Seksi's style.

He sucks at Cup's types though :)

edit before i get flamed : it is like in poker, some are great cash game players (league type) but suck at tournament style poker (cup style)

Ugri, unfortunately most of those Cups were on Saturdays... and I couldn't play! I did make it to one ISFF Cup Final (with Lightweight, Duck, some other undead), but lost that one.  Maybe you're right.  Hopefully FFArena ladder can be successful as PlayFFA ladder was.

No I mean you never won FML which is Cup style with elimination games, while you won most of the ladder season type events (fml ladder, playffa seasons). You perform best in long term grinding event than in decisive games such as a fml semifinal or final.

I doubt anybody can beat you in the FFA Symposium inhouse league if you play it.

The playFFA seasons you didnt win, you barely played them...

"I doubt anybody can beat you in the FFA Symposium inhouse league if you play it."

I'll take my changes to beat seksi  :icon_biggrin:. With strong players like DV, Maga, Alien, Cumulo and myself already signed up he will have to play his best :-).

I want to play.

I'd say keep it simple with bonus points, even if u won't check "trustful ppl" it will still be lots of administration around that stuff.

Obviously anyone can win this since key factor is being active, still fun though and good way to keep ffa active until the next FML season. But in the end we will all mock the winner as a big nerd

Sounds cool, though really I am waiting for anonymous ladder.  I will be home for Christmas till the 7th of January though, so I don't know how much I can play, then school starts.

Hey looks good, but the point system is better with:

4 player - 2 pts
6-8 player - 3 pts
10-12 - 4 pts

Currently (1/2/3 instead of 2/3/4) a 4 player game is hardly worth it.  Winning a 6 way shouldn't be worth 2x the amount of pts as a 4-way.  With 2/3/4 scoring system, a 6-8 way is worth 1.5x the points as a 4 way which makes more sense.

New rules

Games with no "symposium" or "sympo" or abreviation of it in the game name don't count for the league

Invisible colors are not allowed (ex brown on thunder lake)

Changed some bonus points rules

no more bonus for winning in less than 35 min

+2 bonus points for unorthodox hero combo (except elf without panda, only 1 bonus point)
+2 for getting a tinker/naga/beastmaster etc lvl 7 and win the game with it

I have two questions:

1) What if the top 3 have for example 120 pts, 110 pts, 90 pts, and the following 3 places have the same score let's say 60 pts, in this scenario how would admins decide which one of the 3 gets to play in the final round ?  would there be a final FFA schedule for this particular case ? and if so, who would be the one to play besides the 3 tied for fourth place ?

2) Whoever wins the final game wins the league, but does that mean his name is written on the wall under "Others" ? as it was done for KOTH and Ladder ?

I can answer the 2) with "Yes" as the league is a side event similar to FML Ladder or KoFFA.
