Civil discussion of Pokčmon
« on: April 18, 2012, 10:26:51 pm »
Due to some recent hostility in threads, particularly name-calling via Pokčmon comparisons, also known as Pokčnaming, I've decided to open up a post discussing the value of Pokčmon and their place in today's society, including the progression from being treated as property and traded like cards, models, and women -- to being regarded as equals and given proper voting rights and home-ownership privileges.  The discussion point I'd like to jump off on is the 2005 case of Pikachu vs the Board of Education.

Begin.

I would like to set the precedent that there are only 151.  While games past 1st generation are acceptable for fun; there are, and always will be, only 151 Pokemon.  Agreed?  Thank you

An excellent first point of discussion, however i'd like to wait for voting on the topic until our next meeting, chalk it up to next time.  Any other New Business?

This. I was battling with my digimon before pikachu ever became disturbingly cute.

It amuses me greatly that instead of commenting on the clever satire through reference to the civil rights movement using Pokčmon as a euphemism for african americans, everyone immediately jumped into a discussion of Pokčmon vs Digimon.  Color me rofl'd.
