FFA Cup 6th (?)
« on: September 06, 2017, 01:06:18 pm »
Dear FFA friends!

There is no good journey that does not end with going back home  :icon_mrgreen:

I would like to help organize a FFA Cup late October or early November. I of course need your help and make sure you are motivated to support the project... There are some things I cannot do!

What Ugri can do

- Set up a fundraiser on matcherino
- Promote on Social Medias
- Find casters
- Get famous players
- Coordinate management (from discord)
- Take dictatorial decisions to make Shave happy ( :icon_razz:)
- Have a Liquipedia page made for it, so we dont lose the history of the event (i've found a trick!)
- Give 100 euros (i received a generous donation from a WC3 supporter out of the blue)

What Ugri cannot do

- host games / take care of bots
- be there until the end or maybe not there at all (living in China)
- Manage players on Dday
- create a logo or do any design

Up to discussion (with designed admins)

- Map choices system
- format

-> best would be to have 3 serious admins with at least one Russian speaker
-> we could innovate and have it played on a two days system (one day for R1, one day for Semi + Final)
->if you are ok, we will create a small designated discord group with chosen admins

Just an idea, let me know what you think (and btw, when will all FFA Cups winners be listed in the Hall of Fame?  :icon_razz:)

Take care,

Ugri

I am sure there would be interest in such an event. It is hard to organize though as you know from your own experience because you rely on trusting players.

Different idea: 8 Player FFA with 7 Solo Pros. FFA community is allowed to send their TOP seed player (voted by poll). You can give spots to asia/europe whatever.

Advantage of this format:
-only one game (easier organisation)
-high interest if promoted right (who doesn't want to see Lyn vs Happy vs Grubby vs Foggy vs FFAmasters player :D?)
-4 different casters (covering europe, russia, asia, ffamasters)
-winner takes it all

I think a one game event could provide a lot more interest.

Edit: Why not make a poll and the 7 players with the highest amount of votes receive an invitation?

then it will be just a showmatch. could be done but thats not the same kind of project (Grubby will not play this, Lyn cannot play this from China)

we did a TeD/Xun/tbcbm vs Focus/Fly/Xiaokk vs Infi/TH/Romanti vs Foggy/TGW/Pooh once. That was fun but lasted only 20 mn or so

The players i named were just an idea. 3v3v3v3 is different from ffa.

And i disagree with you, the only reason why the progamers play tournaments and why streamers stream is money. If the prize-money is high enough (more than you make during a streaming session if we take grubby as example) everyone will try. That is why he doesn't play gera cup or some other joke events (according to prize money), because the time investment doesn't pay off since he makes more with just streaming. In tournament spheres we talk about 500-1000$ prize money which is unrealistic for FFA events.

I think interest is always there. Especially with summer being over. I just don't know if the interest for FFA is still high enough, but as i said, if the prize money is good, people will even play 1v1 Hurricane Isles best of 100 with 0,25x game Speed.

Great initiative!

Formar: should be classic 4 way FFA, that's why we're al here. The map pool could be voted before the start of the event, but when the event has started, it should be a fixed pool to avoid all the hassle for the admins since players like shave/tox are fucking retarded.

I have a suggestion: all players that donate at least 10 USD should be allowed to pick one player to avoid in first round. This would be a good way of dodging suiciding noobs (ena/shave/tox)
