Solve this Situation Answers
« on: March 02, 2012, 07:20:15 pm »
We had a few good answers to the "Solve this situation" this season, so lets discuss them! I'm not going to post them all as some people didn't put any effort into their response or didn't do one at all. Also a few of them were just "let the others suicide while I snipe the win." and I got tired of copy/pasting the same answer. So if you don't see yours on here, you know why!

The Question...

Quote from: WorpeX
-Solve this situation: You have 500 gold/wood left and 3 high level heroes (6+). You have no base left besides a town hall and 1 peon. Your gold mine is dry. You don't know how much gold your 2 remaining opponents have left, but they have large armies and 1 gold mine. Using any hero combination, combined with FFA tactics, how would you attempt to win this game?

The Answers...

Quote from: SteppinRazor
Hero combo AM MK PALLY, I would try and get one of the other players (the one I perceive as weaker) to help me kill the strongest player and then I would use my last gold to build anther hall and hide some farms I can mass TP to and then I would backstab my ally when the time looks right and hope that I could kill him and win.

Quote from: Camp_and_Spank
Depending on how low on gold I am i would maybe train one more worker to see it emptee before I loose the mine, then i would scout as much as possible to fint out who i stronger and how much resources they are having(which i ofc would already know pretty accurate during scouting the entire game). I would then team up with the weaker until he becomes the stronger(problable by harassing peons and towers to force him to spend resources and backstab in battles, make sure not to loose and hero cause no farm. finally i would put peon close to a revieval place for heroes if i loose all of them and can at least get one more. But before i would mine the last gold and spread around the map with another town hall. Possible selling of items is ofc included to revieve heroes. Then at the end killing their very little army of the last guy as soon as the other is crippled enough to never come back.

Quote from: Magadansky
I am in such situations all the time... just kill one of them as quickly as possible.

Quote from: Slythe
Sorry, i am not renaud

Quote from: Beljone
id grab a tinker, a bm and a dh, and try to get one to suicide on the other. then my bm and dh would come in and murder everything that the other player has left. once player 1 leaves and player 2 starts rebuilding his shit, id go over to his base and kill all his buildings with an AOE dh ulti, bladestorm and a tinker hell bent on destroying every masonry upgraded human building he can find. then once he rebuilds, id take his gold mine and continue to thwart all the rebuilding efforts he attempts.

Quote from: Walking.TrL
As seen by the countless times I am have 6+ tri-hero and one base.  Hell, I've had a 100 food army, tri 10, 3 buildings while my two enemies have only heroes and I still lose.  FML. So, what do I do? Kill the Orc.

Quote from: F10EX
Well, My 3 hero would be Pit Lord, Alchemist, Dark Ranger, would try to use ultimate as often as possible, to win units, gold, and narrow down the enemy force and strengthen mine's.
My hero items and hero micro would be crucial, running away from the large armies when i hussle them with ultimates, not too much, just enough. would put my peon on wood, and i would steal a wisp with dark ranger if available to hide a tree.

Quote from: Ugrilainen
I lay low, hope they suicide each other then send my tinker to the last guys main while using my gold to plant maximum necropolis all around the map. Of course if Worpex is still around I'll suicide him because he probably sucided me!

Quote from: Persuade
Orc -  Can't win, will get teamed cuz im orc, maybe if lucky use raider abuse and hide burrow while i get lucky with critical hits and kill everything

NE -  Uproot and hide tree, use owl scout to manip them into killing each other, then when one is left utilize the power of the panda and his best friend the firelord.

Hu -  Carefully wait for one to kill other, use mass teleport with my firelord and volcano their base into oblivion over and over

UD - Find 75/150, turn aco into shade, help weaker team stronger, backstab in middle of fight

Quote from: Uzi-Madone
i would have alchy panda tc. I ll build 1 burrow and get enough money for a 2nd townhall on a hidden mine via alchemist ultimate. Then i would convince the weaker player to team the stronger player with me, i do the harass he kills the army etc etc. If i see a chance of him winning fast i start manipulating vice versa, while i hoard a little gold up in my secret mine. i build up army again and GG ;)

Quote from: Gnom
imo need alch DR PL their ultas give me some
gold some units and  minus 3 units for my enemies. gold i may use for
new buildings or towers or build new town hall in another place. but
such harass will annoy too much in the end of game and they may just
come and kick me or someone else. anyway alch need most of all. alch DR
tinker good too if they don't have many buildings or towers. and alch PL
DL with inferno and demon. DL always good anyway:)

Quote from: RedKeeKee
Alch/Panda/Potm.  Tactic: after maniping into a non-threat position, I would infiltrate the other 2 opponents' encounters with my alch using invis pots and slowly transmute myself as much gold as possible, eating a hole in a forest with my tree to amass a secret chippo army in the corner, using lvl 3 owl scout to keep tabs on all the army positions and gold mines.  Once the two are finished clean it up and pray no level 10 BM ^_^.

Quote from: ReFleKt
If there's enough gold left to raise a final army then I would try to expand, if I could do it while staying out of the way of my opponents. I'd also keep my heroes out of sight. If ignored for long enough then I'd attempt to hoard and rebuild. If expanding isn't possible or a bad idea given the location of the gold mines then I'd just stay out of sight unless one of them is much stronger than the other - in that case I'd do what I could to help the weaker one. If one of them is actively trying to finish me off then I'd offer to help the weaker one against the stronger one, regardless of which one of them is trying to finish me (we're assuming here that I won't rage-suicide like most players, no guarantees there). If that doesn't work then I'd hit & run the army of the opponent trying to finish me unless they're both trying to finish me, and either way I'd hide buildings and hope that they become more interested in each other. If it does work then I'd help my weaker opponent and wait for a chance to win. I generally go standard heroes, so I think the only additional way in which they'd factor in is with respect to items - I'd sell items if I thought it was essential to appear weaker, or if I thought I'd eventually be able to buy them back.

Quote from: Darkermirror
i do it with my main race elf. id use tp staffs (300 gold) invis pots (rest of gold-use only at end of game to sneak to last buildings) and panda/warden/potm. hide potm well and just use owls. go for teaming 1 player till he is not far from dead then team other. this should work as everyone scouts map for your buildings but can’t find them cos they are few (see many of my games for my epic hiding skillz) use warden panda to slowly kill buildings. keep graveyards alive for avatar. if need to, sell items and retrain to shadowstrike blink that way you are hard to kill except by sh/tc user so always owl his sh. if opening arises where you know other ppls building locations and they both have very few buildings, kill interrupt hero of one guy and other heroes and go for building kill with starfall/bof. lie a lot, hide your wisp and keep one hero close to shop to sell stuff after tp staffing there to make one extra ToL. This scenario is so fun as elf Zwinkerndes Smiley only chance is they underestimate you and u play very good. on market maps buy staff of cyclone or infernal to help a hero kill/building kill. (after selling two staffs you should have anyway). sappers also own at end. depending on situation a zeppelin can be useful.

Quote from: Ati.Bright
click enter tell your remaining opponents how you have no chance at winning the game and you want to help 1 of them achieve victory over the other one, and that the first person to threaten your remaining forces will be the person you decide to make lose, now pray that your opponents exhaust their resources on each other and put themselves into a very similer situation as yourself where your BM, SH, TC will be able to finish the game and achieve victory. As well as making sure my blademaster is windwalked at all times during every major fight between the remaining opponents so that when u see the battle between the 2 is near a close u can send in your heros or at least your BM and snipe the player who clearly has the advantages heros with yours, crippling him completely and yet allowing the losing player to lose at the same time.
I win.

Quote from: CrowJam
Because I am playing I would probably have a bloodmage/paladin+alchy or so combo, id use 3 staffs and my heroes to harass my opponents 2 goldmines non stop while hiding farms in various places, either by using flamestrike or just A move on trees with peasants. Because I am being fair by harassing their goldmines I would state that many times in main chat in hopes that they use their reason and dont A move their armies on my last townhall. Pretty much I would be a little bitch and act inferior all the time, standart stuff

Quote from: SkySonic
Usually this is an impossible situation to solve, low winning percentage, but not totally pointless. I would offer my help to one of the players to beat the stronger opponent and then when he is thinking he wins the game ill throw a big bolt on his low hp hero's ass so he ends up probably without tp and then i kick his other heros asses. This will save me some hardcore flame and suicide, but hey im playing for win not for getting new friends ;).

Quote from: Red7z7
DR, DK, LICH

-sell items if any
-build townhall somewhere hidden
-charm a peasant or peon and build farm right below a shop so it doesnt show on minimap
-hide heroes for next hour and a half
-when you think one person starts dying, try to team with them and guerrilla warfare charm coil nova.
-hide charmed units
-rape with 100 food charmed units
-awwww yeaahhh

Quote from: Nooblex
Depending on my opponents, the map and the mines that were left, I might try to rebuild at an open mine. If rebuilding wasn't a good option, I'd hide my peon in a remote corner of the map far from my great hall so that I could rebuild a second main hall of my first was attacked. Since I have a peon, I'm assuming I have to pick and Orc combo, so that would be BM/TC/SH. I'd manipulate my opponents into fighting each other, and scout well enough that I could effectively harass and maintain the balance of power. I'd try to whittle the other players down to my level through manipulation and harassment, then win hero vs hero battles with hex/stomp/bm.

Quote from: ntropY
I try to make peace with the weaker player and help him attack the stronger one while at the same time I try to get a new expand running. The unused 115 gold I leave on my Swiss bank account with a hight interest ratio.

and last but not least....

Quote from: ChrlsNChrg
To start off with I'm cracking open this nut with my patented combo of Tinker/Panda/Priestess. Naturally, I've been owl scouting all game so I know what the haps are, my friends. Humans are first priority - this is obvious to Charles - masonry fucks with my Tinker like a mongoose fucks up a cobra. Second priority are orcs - hexastomp lameness can't touch Robotinker on it's best day but ensnare and critical strikes are still too much cheese for my low-fat diet. My fellow elves and the undead scourge get last priority - they got no recourse for Tinkage and their buildings will be Charles' bitches.

What comes next? Not Charles, he always comes last, like a gentleman. I play both sides of the board like a master-manipper, roboharassing here, breath of overpoweredness there, and more owls to light the way. They try to team me? Fuck that shit. First bitch to touch Charles gets a townhall full of robogoblins, fiery booze, and enough falling stars to satisfy the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I won't elaborate on the more common types of manipulation ("Why you team Charles? He got no gold brosephs"   "Night Elf is underpowered, don't hit the Charlester"   "Who wins if Charles leaves? 'Cause he's about to!") but I assure you all manners of lies, half-truths, and actual truths will be brought to bear. Charles' APM may be under 50, but his WPM is over 140. Charles makes "mistakes" to keep the game balanced. Mistakes like "Oh sorry, brocephalus, I thought that expo was green's." Or "I assure you, partner, that haze/bof on all your gargs was PURELY ACCIDENTAL." Also "You have two mains dude, let me kill this one. Oh you only actually have one? WHOOPS, MY BAD."

At the end of the day there are only two players left, Charles, who is in charge, and the poor sap who is about to face the wrath of 2 hidden trees of life (my original and one made with my 500 starting resources) and the triple threat of Tink/Panda/POTM, fully decked out with 3 staves and TP rods.

Bitches ain't shit. And that's how Charles wins.

Oh man I gotta check the player list again and make sure Charles didn't make the cut, he could probably convince me to leave the game with that manip LOL

We're pretty confident that Charles is Eshan. I will admit though, that was a fine answer he had there. Pretty funny too. lol

Maybe I'm being a little paranoid, but I have a feeling a clever manipper like Eshan wouldn't put all his bags in one basket. I think he'd try and apply twice: once as an obvious eshan type, using same type of expressions he was known for, and once as a less obvious, boring, "newbie" type. The first would distract mods' attention, the second would get through.

And on some level, I'd be glad if that was true, although then I'd want a reveal at some point, so we can all point and laugh.
