General Discussion / Re: Grubby played a random hero FFA map
« on: February 13, 2019, 01:19:45 am »
I have talked about the issues with FFA (time per match, maps, rules) in general and why it fails to attract more than a very "niche" group of individuals. Until those problems are resolved, nothing would work sustainably.

I also agree with HT. Donating to Grubby will bring very little long-term value, and would most certainly not be worth the investment. His audience is not interested in participating in tournaments, they are interested in the show. Most of them aren't even actively playing Warcraft 3 (let alone FFA). Yes, it might bring some awareness, but awareness ≠ more players.

:Bulgaria: :orc: Godfather
:Argentina: :ne: Supremo
:Russia: :ra: Dinamo-
:USA: :ra: Donald-Trump

Godfather wittily picked opponents with a combined IQ of less than that of a malnourished Equatorial Guinean newborn, thus making the outcome of the match rather predictable.

Match 20

:USA: :ra: Eshan
:Russia: :orc: Jiexa
:Albania: :orc: ena1337
:Poland: :ne: Gradient

Eshan followed the strategy of Godfather, but had to go with the second worst in terms of IQ. Again relatively predictable outcome unless the other 3 don't preteam and rush out Eshan.

Match 21

:Czech: :hu: Lil Tic
:Sweden: :ra: junkerzam
:Sweden: :orc: Fetta_ook
:Finland: :ra: aarnikratti

It will be up to the mastermind Lil Ticky to win this game. However, it will be hard having in mind that junker and fetta will naturally preteam. If he manages to somehow manip Aarne into fighting with him, they could leave no choice for the swedes but to fight against each other. Thus, fetta will be taken out relatively quickly, and Aarne + Ticky could 2v1 junker under the pretext that he has higher level heroes. Hard to predict due to the many variations of this game, but unfortunately as with Avengers vs Thanos most outcomes (except for the 1 I mentioned) lead to a victory for junker.

Match 22

:Bulgaria: :ud: jOeybadaSs_
:Russia: :orc: DeniskaEE
:Germany: :ra: Slythe
:Russia: :ra: Jaod

This should be an ez katka for Methix. There is a minuscule chance that the Russians dishonorably preteam and take him out, but in any other scenario he wins.

Match 23

:Germany: :hu: GEASS
:Russia: :ud: Reinforcement-
:USA: :ud: Vyvanne
:Peru: :hu: zS.SuperCumulo

LUL. Did Geass really pick those opponents? If yes, I declare him the ballsiest human-being (pun intended). First, you can't win Rein or Vyvanne 1v1 with Human in FFA. That has to be understood. However, Cumulo doesn't have the habit of teaming up with others (unless they are Supremo), so Geass might indeed be tomed out quickly. I am betting on Rein in this game, because I like his UD style more than that of Vyvanne. I just don't see Cumulo winning this one with Human...

Match 24

:Germany: :ra: Shave
:Germany: :ne: Trunkz
:Russia: :ud: qwest
:Germany: :hu: QQs (replaced by Noexxx)

This is the kind of game qwest loves and noe hates. It will be a mess of battles where tunnel Trunk will weaken someone early on only to get teamed by 2 others. I predict this game will proceed for at least 4 hours and Trunk will take most points, while qwest will win it.

:Peru: :hu: zS.SuperCumulo
:Sweden: :ra: junkerzam
:Bulgaria: :orc: Godfather
:Argentina: :ne: Supremo

Cumulo, Junker, and Godfather fight for 1 hour while ignoring Supremo. In that 1 hour he stays mainly in his base in High Upkeep, until at a random moment he decides to attack a random player. That player is taken out instantly due to the 100 limit Elf army Supremo has. Supremo gains high levels and steamrolls the rest of the players to victory.

:USA: :ra: Eshan
:Russia: :orc: DeniskaEE
:Sweden: :orc: Fetta_ook
:Russia: :ra: Jaod

Depending on the race he picks, Eshan wins either within 1 hour, or in 3 hours.

:Czech: :hu: Lil Tic
:Albania: :orc: ena1337
:Russia: :ra: Dinamo-
:Poland: :ne: Gradient

Lil Tic takes ena out with first attack at 10th minute mark. Dinamo suicides Gradient. EZ Katka for Lil Ticky!

:USA: :ud: Vyvanne
:Bulgaria: :ud: jOeybadaSs_
:Finland: :ra: aarnikratti
:Germany: :hu: QQs

A very hard to predict game. However, Methix has the best sustain here. Unless something goes wrong he should win.

:Germany: :hu: GEASS
:Germany: :ne: Trunkz
:USA: :ra: Donald-Trump
:Russia: :orc: Jiexa

30 of the first 35 buildings of Donald are towers, so Trunk skips him and goes to Geass. He kills Geass with first attack. Having DH lvl 6 at 15th minute mark makes him a target for Donald and Lexa. They team him up for 2 hours until his infinite moon juice finally gets depleted and he loses. Lexa and Donald fight. In the meantime Geass has 1 hidden building in the corner of the map. He uses that building and 1 peasant to win the game.

:Russia: :ud: qwest
:Germany: :ra: Slythe
:Russia: :ud: Reinforcement-
:Germany: :ra: Shave

Since Shave rq'ed Warcraft for the 10th time this year, this game is hard to predict as there will be a substitute. However, assuming that another non-Russian subs, the game should go something like this - Rein fights 2 hours vs everyone and kills them. In the meantime qwest takes 15 expos, and unsummons all buildings except for a Necropolis, a Graveyard, and 100 towers in the corner of the map. He stays at 30 limit whole game and wins the game eventually, backstabbing Rein, while Rein has been helping him survive whole game.

Shorty not even mentioning my name in my game, rude. Im hurt, cruel world

Ah, Imba Ugri, I honestly didn't even know you played WC3 seriously. I have always envisioned something like Neo I guess. But in any case, you got probably the toughest group, so unless your skill level with UD is Maga(aka Simo6Killer)-like, you might be up for a painful match. Especially if you play from China (or anywhere in Asia). As someone who played last season with 200-250 ping, I can assure you it's not a pleasant thing to do :)

Match 1

:ra: :Germany: Joggel
:ne: :USA: Donald-Trump
:ra: :USA: Eshan
:ne: :Argentina: supremo

90% Eshan, 10% Joggel. Joggel might have higher chances if players pick some bad race for Eshan based on the map. I didn't understand from the punishment announcement if the race pick should happen before or after the map is picked though.

Match 2

:ne: :USA: Mog[skynet]
:hu: :Peru: SuperCumulo
:ud: :France: Ugrilainen
:ne: :Germany: Trunkz

Having in mind how heavily nerfed Human is in 1.30, I just don't see Cumulo winning. Additionally, in 1.30 the robotic style of Trunk was nerfed, and if he plays it he might find it tough to win. Overall, it might very well go in Mog's direction who has more versatile hero picks that could be adjusted to suit the imbas of 1.30 (KotG, Alchemist, Pit Lord, etc).

Match 3

:orc: :Russia: b100death
:ud: :Russia: Jaod
:ra: :Lithuania: Peanut
:ne: :USA: Dovekie

B100, one of my favourite players, faces two of my least favourite players - Jaod and Peanut. If he plays smart with Orc, he can win this. I am not so familiar with Dovekie though.

Match 4

:ne: :Poland: Gradient
:orc: :Russia: Jiexa_b
:ra: :USA: Seksi
:ud: :USA: Vyvanne

Seksi can use the half-witted Gradi in his favour in this match. Otherwise he could easily lose a potential 1v1 battle with :korea: Vyvanne. Someone toming Lexa might also be an important factor in the long run.

Match 5

:ud: :USA: SteppinRazor
:orc: :Russia: Airenikus
:ud: :Bulgaria: jOeybadass
:orc: :Russia: mrSweets

I'm not familiar with SteppinRazor, but I'll have to put my money on Joey. UD saw some incredible buffs in 1.30 + Joey was doing perfectly well even before that, so unless the Russian Orcs team him up he should be the eventual winner.

Match 6

:ra: :Finland: aarnikratti
:orc: :Albania: ena1337
:ra: :Germany: ToX
:orc: :Bulgaria: Godfather

This will be an interesting match in which shit can easily hit the fan. One thing is sure, there will be suicides in this match, and if Aarne is Finnish enough to sit it out, he might actually get a free win. However, if GodFather strikes in the right moment, and if he doesn't suicide, he could snatch the victory.

Match 7

:orc: :Sweden: Fetta_ook
:ud: :Russia: Reinforcement-
:ne: :Peru: Headintheclouds
:ra: :Sweden: Junkerzam

Whoever tomes Fetta wins, so a lot would depend on positions. On paper Junker is the favourite, but with proper strategy and having in mind the other players, I'd say that Rein has good chances here.

Match 8

:orc: :Germany: Pinballmap
:ud: :USA: JSRGN
:hu: :Russia: AJIKAIII
:ra: :Germany: Slythe

Two players I am unfamiliar with here, but from what I read, it sounds like Ajikai's skill might be the highest. The problem with him is that he likes to rambo around, which ultimately costs him many games. This might turn out to be a game of patience though, and if he is patient enough he should be able to win.

Want to be a captain? I likely won't have the time for that.
Why should a captain draft you (or why not)? I have much more of why not than of why yes, so I will leave this blank.

Not true, it's only theoretically possible:

- DV can have a maximum of 90 points if he wins his game with top score.
- There are currently 4 players that have more than 90 points, so just 3 more players would need to be above DV in the rankings (players up to rank 7 qualify for semis).
- Players that could have more than 90 or more points include: godfather, trunk, trumanshow, joggel, airenikus, gradient, reinforce, renaud, vyvanne, starshaped, junker, supremo, valefort.
- If you win your game trunk and gradient would be out of the picture. If you win your game with top score, godfather will also be out of the picture. This still leaves 10 other players that could be higher or have same points at DV. And this is IF what you say comes true.

You didn't post shit. If your availability is a "maybe 1 hour, 2 weeks from now, but can't say for sure", then you might as well stop wasting everyone else's time.

No idea how "swap" works, but if that's what it would take for this game to be played, then yes it would be needed.
