News / FML Season 27 | Sign up!
« on: Yesterday at 06:39:50 PM »
Congratulations to QQs for winning his first FML title and being immortalized in history books. After weeks of celebration and laziness, resting is over now and we are calling all FFA players (the ones with and without honor) back to arms.

After two major team events in a row, FML Season 27 will be a clash of individuals again. No team bonus, no carry and no super teams.

The point structure (20-12-12-10 and +2 for top score) will remain the same as in previous seasons and every player will be ranked on a ladder, depending on his individual score.

The special feature of Season 27 lies in its matchmaking, which will happen within pools. There will be three pools (pool 1 = players on ranks 1-12 | pool 2 = players on ranks 13-24 | pool 3 = players on ranks 25+).
For round 1 (where we donít have a ranking yet), matches will be drawn randomly in a lottery (streamed live). After round 1, we will have a scoreboard and therefore rankings that define who is in which pool for the upcoming round (each round consists of two matches, played within a three week period) and so on.
The rank pairings will be as follows.

In case two players have identical points, the usual FML tie breaker rules apply.
After round 3, the top three ranked players will be qualified for the final and the players on rank four to seven will play a semi-final to decide who the fourth finalist is going to be.

Scheduling and Maps

Each player has to help scheduling his match, by posting his availability in the forum within 48 hours after the respective scheduling thread was created. If he does not, he loses scheduling rights. The 48 hours do not only apply for initial posts, but also for all subsequent scheduling thread discussions (e.g. if three players agree on a time and the fourth player fails to respond within 48 hours, he also loses his scheduling rights). Whatever was discussed in other communication channels (e.g. Discord) needs to be logged in the thread as well, in order to be valid from an official standpoint.
Admins will provide three potential maps for each match (in the scheduling thread). Each player can vote for one of these maps and whatever map gets most votes will be played.

If there is a tie, where two maps get two votes, whatever map had two votes first will be played. If all four players have posted their votes within the first 24 hours after the scheduling thread was created, admins will flip a coin to decide which of the two maps gets played.

If you want to participate in FML Season 27, please post your name, nationality and Warcraft 3 race into this thread, by Feb 28 (20 CET)

- Technical upgrades you want to see on this bot that were lacking on the current one (anonymousness for example or else)

Anonymous matches would be great
Maybe two parallely hosted matches, one with random hero and one without
Possibility to report hackers and preteamers somewhere

- Would you pay for the bot fees? Should not be too much money (coming back for this one)

I'd be willing to put in a few Euros per month

- Are you having a lot of desync on the bot currently? This should come from the different versions 1.26 and 1.28 (w3arena/Iccup vs the rest of the servers).

surprisingly not so many. At least <5% of matches with desync

- Any objection to doing this move?

no, sounds great. thanks for your effort

So much tension in here. As I understood Trunks will play the final, so there should be no problem?

Anyways, I find it funny how Cumulo behaves as if nothing has happened and even makes demands. If I'd ruined a semi-final as you did, I would remain very quiet for the rest of the season.

Finally the final  :icon_biggrin:
Great map choice and hopefully no afk disappointment this time. The map should give everyone some space to breath, which is good, unless players forget about Trunks and his DH has time to go shopping. I'm curious whether Tyrant goes for undead or human again. I'm not a fan of his human, but Harvest can be very ungreatful for undead, so he he might. QQs is the underdog and should try to get some gold this time or he'll be doomed against two nightelfs. Trunks already announced to help his captain in case Wreck and Tyrant would team him to death.

I think Trunks and Wreck have best chances here, and the rest will be coming down to spawn positions. I'm fine with either player winning, as long as Trunks doesn't get a freewin as in most inhouse matches since November. Wreck will apply  our famous Miramar strategy.

GL HF everyone

Almost felt like Cumulo desparately wanted to preteam with Tyrant. Manipping and attacking versus Airenikus for 45 minutes just to feed his army into Tyrant.

Sad outcome for Airenikus who fought like a rage critter lion. Tyrant played a solid match and exploited Cumulo's weirdness, but is a worthy finalist after all. I hope we will see him playing undead in finals.

General Discussion / Re: Regular Season Wrap Up
« on: January 09, 2018, 01:34:18 PM »
Amazing wrap-up Slythe!

Although some people have pointed at me as a huge supporter of the team factor during the season, I had the idea of lowering the team impact from 100% to around 30%. In a community full of weird lone wolves, I expected the majority to be done with team stuff for at least half a year.

In retrospective, I enjoyed to be part of a team again. It's always nice if you can cheer for others and assigning maps was super easy for us.

Since the top teams were amazingly close (6 point difference only) in the end, team impact wasn't that big of a factor within the top 7. But if all ZigZagZigguracians would have continued to shine, the team factor would've distorted the rankings too much for my taste. It may have been more fair with a draft or another measure to avoid super teams.

What I did not like as much was how replacements were handled and how no-show affected team scores. I think it should've been the sole responsibility of each team to get themselves a replacement if someone left. This would've been less work for admins also. On the other hand, I think teams by default should've gotten at least 10 points for each game, even with their player not showing.

My taste for uncommon maps is no secret. I was really satisfied with the map picks and think there was something in the pool for everyone (apart from round 5 maybe).

In my eyes, it's awesome to see so many different player types. Contrary to solo, FFA offers so many more ways to shine and viable strategies. Furthermore, it's possible to outweigh bad micro or macro with FFA sense and manip. Since this community has definitely capacity for some additional players, I think we should encourage newcomers and provide useful feedback, rather than talking them down. The school of FML is rough and illiberal enough anyways.  :icon_lol:

Apart from Wreck playing so dominantly, I was most surprised by QQs', Airenikus' and Gradi's performances. It's amazing how Gradient stepped up his game all of a sudden. Better micro, better decision-making, better English and still the same tryhard.

It was (and still is) a blast to be part of all this.
Have fun!

Semi-final predictions

:Peru: :hu: Zs.Supercumulo [CoR]
:USA: :ne: Mog[Skynet] [Zig]
:Russia: :orc: Airenikus [Rage]
:Hungaria: :ud: Tyrant [Zig]

I hope Airenikus goes for Orc and Tyrant for Undead, so we get to see a semi-final with four races. On paper, Airenikus might be the underdog here, but he's a Rage Critter, which gives him the ability to bloodlust himself. Tyrant and Mog from Choke Chag Chiggurat will be busy dealing with their pricks of conscience. Fighting against someone who basically still is your team mate is heavy melodrama material. So is the map choice, with a triple tie on rank four. Cumulo already implied that he would like to go with a human-favoring version of Ice Crown, while Mog wants to play on Dragon Island again to rehabilitate from his painful loss against Fettairenikus. Airenikus chooses Northshire obviously, since it's his captain's favorite map. If there's no consensus, I'll vote for Turtle Rock Crazy.

@LssL Our team would appreciate if you could play this one last match. Since a part of our team points will be added to each player's points, Airenikus relies on us to secure his rank.

As discussed in Discord, it would be great if we could postpone M44 to the weekend.

I would suggest:

Saturday, Jan 6 at 21:00 CET

Vale and Ponty agreed
