Re: FFArena ladder breaking news we can expect in the near future one sole bnet server.

Which will mean that this bot would just patch things a little bit, before we are all back on bnet to play FFA on a ladder like the good old days

Anonymus ladder games are very very bad.

Yes, true, but anonymous ladder games are very very good.

Re: Beginners FML FFA Guide
yes this is the hardest game mode. just because its less popular and has less skilled players, doesn't change the difficulty of the game mode. you guys are confusing gametype with competition

as a GAMETYPE, ffa is more difficult

if the SAME players played FFA and SOLO - their win % in FFA would be lower.

You're talking about the level of competition of solo vs ffa. Obviously solo is far more popular and the level of competition and skill is far higher. If you filled FML with happy, lawliet, foggy, grubby, all those guys - or if you filled it with a bunch of noobs, it doesn't change the nature of the gametype.

As a gametype, FFA is a more difficult game. Maybe if it were more simple, it would be more popular.

Also if FML is so easy i'm surprised you still dodge ;)

I highly agree here. FFA brings in other dimensions and variables in War3 that otherwise don't exist in SOLO matches. For example, the concept of diplomacy: this is the human element. In SOLO matches, you're only concerned with defeating the other opponent. In FFA, you need to be the last man standing.

Grubby himself gave a great commentary recently on Back2Warcraft where he explained some diplomacy fundamentals and even gave some tips that wouldn't exist in SOLO matches (his examples were on not killing off a base's buildings and farming the pillage off it, managing supply, and honorable players rewarding another player with leaving the game and allowing them to farm their live heroes)

I myself have played against some really great strategic players who have awful micro, but win purely off their execution of strategy.

The FFA game type is truly a great example of The Art of War.

To the comment about 10% win percentages - that's false.  Statistically, blending in all skill levels, your win percentage should be 25%. Just like in SOLO it should be 50%. The reason win percentages are higher on BNet are because skilled players are playing less-skilled competition. FML provides a great platform where everyone's skills are relatively on the same level - thus, giving all of us an approximate win chance of 25%.

Re: Beginners FML FFA Guide @ZsSuperCumulo  - I agree with your previous points (not your last post) - however, Eshan's logic still stands.

Diplomacy may include a level of manipulation - but it's still another variable.

I believe you may be misunderstanding what we're saying about complexity.  In an FFA, you could very well have 1,2 or even 3 players 'hammering your ass from the gecko' .

[x,y,z] = more complex than [t] , however, that's not to say that x > t or that x+y > t.

I like Eshan's analogy with a nuclear arms race. It's true - in solo, you can't deny you're in a race of time against one other player.  All we are saying is that in FFA, there are many more variables to consider.

Even in solo - bigger maps add more complexity. More numbers and variables will always bring in greater complexity.

Personally, I love the FFA game type as I'm rarely ever 'done'. Even if my base is destroyed, I can buy enough time to rebuild. I found solo matches quite frequently end so prematurely. Players will make one mistake and then "GG".  That's so underwhelming to me...

Re: Your favorite top5 FFA Players of all time! In no particular order based on who I saw play.

1) HTRT - Extremely versatile and flexible FFA player who thrived on aggression. As mentioned by many, his game made to be amongst the most fun to watch because he not only had great Macro, but it was combined with incredible micro and gamesense. His fighting ability was incredible and he always forced the action and put pressure on players, even if it didnt suit the overall end-game. Most likely the most fun player to watch during his time.

2) Under.sTa - #1 Ranked solo player on azeroth with an incredible win % turned FFA pro, mainly played elf with a pro demon hunter but could play almost any race. He had a very good understanding of macro and timing, but showed much of the same aggression as HTRT did but with more restraint and an emphasis on manip. He was the total package, and most games it was almost unfair due to his individual skill - he was always a target for getting teamed in the mid game.

3) Magadansky - Honestly the most consistent player of our generation. Multiple FML championships, even more finals appearances - stable figure in the scene and had a long-time love for the gametype that never seemed to waver. His solo influence shows in his advance micro, but what separated him was his game sense. The ability to mix manip and timing attacks to his advantage won him so many games, along with the fact that he didn't need an incredible amount of resources to win each game because he won almost every fight. The true total package.

4) Wrecktify - Probably the most skilled human I've ever seen and 2nd only to Maga in terms of all-around skill in terms of fighting, macro, manip, and game sense. Wrecktify solidified himself as one of the very few human FFA players to hold their own at every stage of the game from early to late, due to his individual skill.

5) King Orcs - Although not all exactly the same skill across the baord, its pretty damn close. I was lucky enough to be active during a time where the # of high skilled orcs was absolutely stunning (I remember 1 FML playoffs match having 3 highly skilled orcs in 1 match - nobody could pick a winner). Plush, Nline, Yz, Daseland, Darkness, Lel. All incredible in terms of fighting, macro, and game sense and if even 1 was in the game, you knew it would be a god watch.

6) Eshan - Had to put this guy in, how can you not love being a spectator to the king of manip?

Honorable mentions:

- Fury - If he played more he'd be in my top 5, but he got teamed too much and i dont blame him for stopping. King of dual race.
- Blex - Unique style and powerful fighter, plus one hell of a dota player.
- Rebbats
- Q-Veta
- Renaud
- Lost
- Bobas

Re: FML Season 29 | Round 3 Go post your predictions!

The full scores can be found here

M13

:Peru: :hu: zS.SuperCumulo
:Sweden: :ra: junkerzam
:Bulgaria: :orc: Godfather
:Argentina: :ne: Supremo

(Map Pool: Northshire LV, Legends, Monsoon)

Well this is my worse season so far so I guess I dont have any chance to win.
Cumulo will prolly rush me. Junker will kill Supremo easy.
I guess I will survive long enough to harras cumulo even with one peon left so letting junker win this game and have a better chance for finals. If I smell preteam I will suicide Cumulo.
M14

:USA: :ra: Eshan
:Russia: :orc: DeniskaEE
:Sweden: :orc: Fetta_ook
:Russia: :ra: Jaod

(Map Pool: Sanctuary LV, Deadlock LV, Legends)

Well lowest skill orcs in the league, Jaod playing decent this season and the favorite rat of all Eshan. Personally I hated this guy in the start , but after I saw all of his manipulations and really top games and surviving with almost no chance I really started to hate him more.Deniska and Fetta are trully the worse orcs I have ever seen in a while. I hope they suicide each other.Jaod plays good but everytime in 3-ways he make wrong decisions. I think Eshan will rat enough and win.

 M15

:Czech: :hu: Lil Tic
:Albania: :orc: ena1337
:Russia: :ra: Dinamo-
:Poland: :ne: Gradient

As I know Lil Tic he picked those players for a reason. Since he is nothing special he just wants free win.Deep down in my heart I believe Ena is smart enough not to suicide Gradient and make this game fast 3-way after they kill Dinamo or whoever subs. In 3-way with Gradient you never now what will happen since this polish IQ record holder is friend with both of them and prolly will try to hoard until Lil Tic needs to go to university. I go with gradient cuz prolly he will survive since noone will have the nerves to chase him for 6-7 hours around the map.

(Map Pool: Deadlock LV, Boomtown, Twilight Ruins)

M16

:USA: :ud: Vyvanne
:Bulgaria: :ud: jOeybadaSs_
:Finland: :ra: aarnikratti
:Germany: :hu: QQs

Well after Vyv missed his win in the first game and he almost throw his second I guess the presure will be on him. Depending on who else will be in the 3-way ( I guess QQs , since arni is pro solo gg) the two undeads might make a great fights inbetween. QQs will have his chances if he manages to hoard enough.I will go with my mate Methix as a winner.

(Map Pool: Sanctuary LV, Deathrose, Monsoon)

M17

:Germany: :hu: GEASS
:Germany: :ne: Trunkz
:USA: :ra: Donald-Trump
:Russia: :orc: Jiexa

Long story short:

Trunkz rushed the orc (JIexa)-> gains level 6.
Donald-Trump and Geass hoard and sit in base for 6 hours.
Trunkz tries to attack on of them after JIexa is out and starts to cry for help from the other. Noone will help him. Trunkz get defeated by losing all buildings.
I think Donald will manage to win this one since GEASS is one of the most unattractive player to watch and really low skilled. DONALD I BELIEVE IN YOU!
(Map Pool: Northshire LV, Boomtown, Cold Plains)

M18

:Russia: :ud: qwest
:Germany: :ra: Slythe
:Russia: :ud: Reinforcement-
:Germany: :ra: Shave

Well everyone knows that rat number one is Eshan. Rat number two is qwest. Noone will believe him for anything so I guess he will be out first. In three was rein has a really good sense and will most likely have free win. GL
