News / Draft Phase - Team Battle Royale
« on: February 15, 2017, 09:46:40 pm »
:FMLN:

Thank you everyone for applying to our new event! We received 40 applications, which means we will have 4 teams of 10 players each. With many players signing up to be a captain, it was a tight race to choose the best candidates for the role. Congratulations to the following 4 players for being chosen as captains for Team Battle Royale:

:USA: Mog[Skynet]
:Kazikstan: DV-
:France: Ponty
:Denmark: zTsoso

Now that applications are finalized and captains have been selected, that brings us to the next phase, the draft phase. Captains will follow a snake-draft format for selecting their teams (ABCDDCBAABCD...). If possible, this may be a live draft and may even be streamed. If not, the draft will happen in private and teams will be announced late Friday EST, along with the schedule of matches for the first week of games. Things will move very quickly over the next few days so please check in with the site every day leading into the weekend.

When players are assigned to their teams, everyone will join their team's private discord channel. Because we are following KoFFA style scheduling (matches follow a fixed-schedule throughout the week), communication between team members will be essential for scheduling and assigning players to matches.

All of the logistical details out of the way, we are very excited for the upcoming event and we hope you all enjoy some of the interesting challenge modes that will be played, including random heroes, no chat, no-air units, banned heroes, and of course 2v2v2v2!

Cheers!

Sorry for spam, tweaked Boomtown once more to version 1.3 based on latest feedback:

- Made one of the goldmines have harder creeps
- Made most goldmine creeps non-camp mode (except the one closest to base to allow building without trouble)
- Reduced the gold count in a number of mines
- Tidied up a few more cosmetic things

Here is Boomtown version 1.2:

- Made ramps on upper left and bottom right more smooth
- Upped the difficulty of the large ogre camps by adding a lvl 6 troll
- Added a gate at the top of the ramps near the fountains
- Made corners a bit more pretty

if someone wins 3 consecutive games but finishing 2nd, hence getting only 60 pts then he would have missed 6 pts that are more than enough to make a difference between going into semifinals or the grand finals.

Well if someone won 3 games and even got 4th place in their other two games, they would have easily made it into semi finals with 80 points this past season.

:FMLN:

Welcome back!
For those of you patiently waiting for the announcement of our next event, wait no longer! Before proceeding to our next big season, we are going to run an entirely new team-based event. FML Presents: Team Battle Royale!

What is Team Battle Royale? After the application period, four captains will be chosen, and those captains will each draft a team of players from the applicant pool. These teams will compete across various maps and challenges over the course of 3 rounds. The first round will be traditional 4-way FFAs, the second round will be random heroes and other challenge maps (to be revealed later), and the third round will be true team FFAs. All games will be anonymous. Teams gain points by winning matches, and the team with the most wins at the end of the event is victorious. Details on how scheduling will work will be provided later.

A word on captains
Captains will be responsible for representing their team in a number of ways. Ideal captains are active in the community, able to evaluate the skill of potential teammates, and able to work with the players on their team in order to resolve disputes, schedule matches, and make team decisions. Captains must also be available to communicate with admins frequently. Admins will select captains based on these qualities. Aside from that, captains will play matches just like other team members.

Applications
Anyone can apply as long as you have good availability over the next 2 months and you have an interest in the FFA game type. Additionally, you must have a Discord account and check it regularly for this event. You will not be able to schedule your games if you don't have Discord! (https://discordapp.com/ )(FML Channel Invite: https://discord.gg/SAHqSyj)

To find your Discord name+ID look at bottom left of your discord (example red
#4613).

To apply, simply respond to this thread with the following information:
- Discord name and id:
- Country / Timezone:
- Preferred races:
- Want to be a captain? Yes / No:
- If you want to be a captain, provide a brief explanation why you would make a good captain:
- Any other information that might be useful to a captain who wants to draft you:

Applications close February 15 at 9pm EST

General Discussion / Re: FINAL PREDICTION
« on: January 28, 2017, 01:24:54 am »
Qwest is probably the undead with the most innovative build orders and creeproutes. Always watch him to see a really efficient first 10 mins. Since qwest and DV often talk about creeproutes together it will be interesting to see what each of them opt to do in this match. I do think that qwests openings tend to be pretty greedy though - like if someone harassed or creepjacked him early he'd be in trouble. I think qwest is also probably better at standard undead mirror. But DV is more innovative with army compositions and probably has a deeper understanding of unit counters.

Alien is just really good at playing standard with each race. He's also really warmed up for this match I think with his high level of activity this season. Rumor has it he's completely recovered from his shoulder surgery by now, but still gets free massages every week from the physical therapist and still pretends to be in pain so he gets special treatment from his wife ;)

Last but not least, since he's just coming off his first semester exam week, Noe's performance will depend entirely on the relative balance of Adderall and alcohol in his blood stream. If he still has enough Adderall then he will have an ungodly ability to focus on this match for the entire 4 hours while the others lose patience. But if he's still hungover then he will be moody and careless and throw it all away.

So how will it actually go down? I think qwest will open up with super risky creeproute, DV, believing that qwest is his true cryptonite, will go kill qwest with early rush. Noe, even though he's battling Alien in an even fight, will use his forensic analysis to properly conclude the time, place and cause of qwests death. Then it will become a Broadway reenactment of the round 5 three-way coming down to last buildings. However, after a few rounds of teaming, alien and DV will grow tired while Noe is still cracked up on Adderall, and alien and DV will let noe win, believing that he deserves the title most.

lol tough call for Noex, 2 of these maps are heavily favor undeads. I think Red wants an und champion no matter the cost ...

Luckily for Noe every map favors human because human imba!

News / S24 Grand Final
« on: January 25, 2017, 05:01:42 pm »
:FMLN:

Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages, welcome to the finale of Season 24! It's been a long, gruesome season fraught with heartbreak, teaming and suicides, but often times the end of an arduous journey brings with it joy and celebration. We are nearly at that point, when the lone victor gets to claim the ultimate prize: the crown of champions. We are happy to present to you the cast of the season 24 grand finals:

:Switzerland: :hu: noexxx
:USA: :ra: AlienWareOwnZ
:Russia: :ud: qwest
:Kazikstan: :ud: DV-

The map will be decided by the veto system between Noexxx and AlienWareOwnZ with this order (vetoes can be submitted in private to admins and will be announced after both submit or after 48 hours):

1) Deathrose
:DR:
2) Twilight Ruins
:TR:
3) Deadlock
:DL:

And in the words of Renaud, "It's time for the finals, and I think we can all agree, thank god we don't have any orcs!"
