Title: Savage Storm
Post by: Slythe on May 02, 2012, 02:54:05 pm
I just found out that 2 semis will be played on savage storm.

a funny map overall, but i suggest for not too much lameness make a rule that guys wonīt be allowed to place towers on any island.

on the other hand itīs a semi and ppl should know how to deal with it, still in such  games, guys probably wonīt hesitate to tower up island, making games long and lame.

I think towers on islands are essential on this map. It allows comebacks and makes games more interesting. I actually demand wreck to make at least 30 towers on each island and around 50 gyro to protect them from zeppelin. TOWER UP ON THE ISLANDS YEAHAAA !!  :icon_wink:

You shoulda ranked higher, then you could choose your own map :)

SS is obviously awful for a critical game like semi-final, not sure if those who chose it are trolls. Well, in Persuade's case I'm actually sure.

If by "makes games more interesting" you mean "makes me want to kill kittens" then yes.  And remember how much Redkeekee loves kittens...

ShadowSoul aka Kittunmaster = DarknessCalls = Redkeekee?

Conspiracy thickens...

Just saying human with mass copter having having big amount of gold then move to island with all shit is nearly impossible to beat.

In persuade's case, he asked me to cut between deadlock (my highest win % map) and SS
So I take about 70% of the credit!

And ShadowSou1 would call the kittun, not kitten.  Also, all the picture rkk posted clearly lacked anime cats

Also, considering the level of play in the semi, towering a corner is the same as yelling "HEY GUYS! TEAM ME PLEASE!"

Beside, turtling never won a game, what does win a game is getting someone to hit you while you are turtling... I don't mind sitting for a few days

Just like DarknessCalls, he's trying to mask himself.

I'm coining the term "cheese maps" as maps that are overused and we've played hundreds of times similar to how people in this league use the same heroes over and over. I WON'T NAME ANYONE BUT YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Twilight Ruins is one example of a cheese map. Savage Storm is not. So ebo should pick Savage Storm.

Q, I'd choose it for a regular round, but not semi, sorry. It's a silly map which is unfair to certain positions and races.

you say that... but you've been choosing the "cheesiest" race for all regular rounds :D
Face it!  You are a cheese addict!

I actually don't. I thought you might mean me, but I used only 1 hero in every game so far (SH), which is much less than many others, and none at all if you count previous sesason.

islands were removed from harvest of sorrows for a reason.

do not allow towers , or atleast not more than mb 5 ? on islands !

Pretty sure mods won't apply arbitrary rules for this map. I initially asked to modify the map to remove the elevation, before it was even voted on, but Worpex refused. I voted for it anyways, because it is a fun map which can potentially create some good games... but also some very bad ones.

So I think you're stuck with what you got.

btw, the island on SS are specials, because they are not island, they are cliffs (huge diffrence)

In an island, you have to land, and then start attacking (meanwhile, gyro/hawk/heores awaits you) against a cliff, you can use your hero despite not being on the top part.

This mean, a potm could use starfall (and be untargetable since the hero are stuck on the cliff), protecting the chim from any gyro dumb enough to charge in. dnd/stamped/blizz/rof/flamestrike/bof/etc can reach the front towers (also the back in case of ultimates),  The zone where crashing the zepplin = losing all unit is MUCH smaller, and other fun things like that.  This is not harvest 1.0, this is SS!

Good points. Another tip for sieging on SS is, you can drop catapult units on the lower bluffs, and they will be able to reach the towers. In some positions, you can even reach the closest towers from the very ground (range works weird vs such steep elevation). This does well vs LW's idea of mass gyro hu. Not so well vs Griffons which would benefit from weird range as well, and potentially destroy the catapult in seconds... so have your AA and disables ready :)

Does it involve Beastmaster/Firelord/Tinker hero combo?

Don't know, but it clearly involves making a billion towers as human.

Talk all you want about methods of handling towered corners, I still put every last gold I have into killing any human before minute 15 on corner maps.  Towered corners are LITERALLY the most annoying thing in the game.  I cannot think of a strategy I abhor more to play against.

o yeah, fully agreed, I planned on scouting those corners all game, and team whoever gets more than 6 towers (or builds a tower once the mine is empty)
