Hero Combos and Why

probably already a thread on here, but never a bad discussion.

Ive been experimenting with new combos lately, and sadly i mostly play RT so my combos may be of different use

My favorite combo has to be DK > DL > DR. Depending on what units I am getting, DK or DL first. If I were solo or ffa I would say DK or DR first.

Two really effective combos are DLs sleep and DRs silence, sleep is so effective late game & early game as well. DK can heal these heros as well, and in FFA / Solo i like death coil and death pact for harass /small food battles.

DL sleep is excellent with early gouls and quick necs, for surround.

With undead, I think it is extremely hard to play without the lich.  Double use of disabling spells (sleep/silence) is cool, but you will have FAR less pure damage output, and weak hero nuking.  I dont think its a bad combo, audigy has had a lot of success with it, but undead without lich is definitely inferior.

Yeah, I don't play Undead, but I'd say it really hurts Undeads hit and run style of play that is so effective.

I pretty much played every hero combo with ud, with the cl or dl first, with neutral heroes and such. You can have fun with anything but in the end :

DK Lich DL : works best vs ud and ne (nuke air)
DK lich DR : works best vs hu and orc (silence orc casters, sh and tc, silence pala for more efficient nuke)

anything else is ok but not as good
cl doesnt hit air so you need a ground based army which get woned by gryph tank or chippo
army without dk is slow
army without lich lacks the nuking

ams/curse/fiend works really well vs a standard chippo army because they have to use hippos vs other people. it's pretty bad vs say, 12 chims, but most of the time they won't have that and web + kite works great.

Hu -

am/mk/pally vs all
mk/pally/bm vs undead

Ud -

DK/lich/dl vs ud/elf
dk/lich/dr vs hu/orc  (cl is also very good vs orc and ground undead)

Orc -

Bm/tc/sh or Dr/tc/sh vs all

Ne -

Dr/panda/kotg or dh/panda/kotg

I played around with undead heroes also. Basically, what others have said is true. Without a Lich its nearly impossible to play FFA. His nuke is extremely effective at controlling battles and he is critical to late game when facing a towered base. Undead really doesn't have a very effective way to destroy upgraded orc towers without him.

I always go CL first. He is an extremely underrated hero because if he isn't played as your first, he really isn't going to be played to his full potential. His beetles are great for scouting/pissing people off/being a mana pool for lich. Implale is great in a pinch as well to disable and also vs ground armies. CL has fantastic DPS and amazing armor so he becomes a tank late game. His ultimate is the second best undead ultimate and helps A LOT vs every air army.... his main flaw is that despite these qualities, hes still inferior to the DL in almost every way. Sleep is a better disable and inferno is a better ultimate. Locust swarm is better vs air.  Still, I find CL to be more fun to play. :D

dk lich panda is also a good undead hero combo.  best AoE damage of any combo you can use, though DL is still better overall than panda with undead.

i hope you mean DL lich panda for best aoe, it's just terrible in terms of keeping your own heroes alive.

No I meant Dk lich panda.  Undead with no DK is pure suicide, didn't think to mention it because its not really viable.  glhf keeping lich alive with no DK

No disable xcept for inferno and panda storm (if you have the level and/or the mana to use it) simply sucks
